About RCIS

The Ranganathan Centre for Information Studies (RCIS) was established at Chennai (the then Madras) in July 1993, by a group of eminent persons and senior professionals, at the culmination of the year-long birth centenary celebrations of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, the father of library science and library movement in India.

The founder chairman of RCIS was Late Bharathratna Shri C. Subramanian. The founder trustees included, among others, Prof. M. S. Swaminathan, Prof. M. Anandakrishnan, Prof. A. Neelameghan and Prof. S. Parthasarathy.
